In times of desperation and need, true inspiration takes over. Those with the ability to do something, have the responsibility to do something. So…friends…I bring to you what we all need right now. Quite frankly, what the world needs right now. BRACKETS!!!
In the mold of our very favorite sporting/betting event of the year, our crack squad of bracketologists and avid candy lovers have brought both of their passions together to create a viable replacement. Having polled some of the leading experts in candy consumption, we have compiled a list of the top Chocolate, Non-Chocolate and Seasonal Candies, seeded them and placed them into head-to-head match-ups against each other to finally determine the true champion of Candies.
Now, you may say, “Well how is this going to work Beloved Commissioner? Candy has no legs nor arms to play a game against one another. How will we know who wins?” Sit tight kids, and let me explain.
- You will take the attached bracket and either fill it out electronically (using the Excel version), or print it out and fill it out by hand. Just pick who you think would win.
- Next, we have selected an elite group of 15 impartial and ethical judges that will vote on each head-to-head match-up. Meaning, every match-up will get 15 votes to decide a winner. The candy with the most votes moves onto the next round.
- This will continue throughout the course of the tournament until a Champion is selected
“But Oh, Great Bracket Master, how do we keep track of the standings and who wins the Candy Madness Bracket Challenge?” Friends…there is a commissioner that lives inside every one of you. This isn’t meant for large scale gambling, and unfortunately, I do not have a website set up to track it all (yet). It’s something to keep our families and friends occupied while we are stuck with tiny little co-workers in our homes. I encourage you to share this with your families. Let your kids, your parents and your friends play. Set up your own Bracket Challenge and keep track of points and standings on your own. Set up your own prize system. Maybe it’s candy for the winner, a bonus role of toilet paper, or some cold hard cash. Make it whatever fills your inner-gambling needs.
“But Lord Bracket Commissioner Your Honor, I don’t even like basketball. I’m just in Bracket Busters every year for your witty and insightful write-ups.” Worry not my loyal subjects, there will still be round-to-round coverage after every round to tell you who won the match-ups and what happened in the days action. Despite the near quarantine-state we are living in, we are doing the good work that the public needs to provide full coverage of this unique and much-anticipated event.
Brackets should be completed by end of day Monday, March 23. Games will officially kick-off @ 7PM ET that evening with the results available on Tuesday. The full tournament schedule will be sent out by Monday so you can follow along until we crown our 2020 Candy Madness Champion!
If you would like to participate, and receive scores and round-by-round recaps, just send me the email addresses of the people who want to participate. I will add everyone to a separate 2020 Candy Madness group distribution.
With much love and excitement,
~ The Commish
